Fail To Prepare, Prepare To Fail.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been tagged in that meme with the slice of pizza and a beer in a Ziploc bag! That is pretty much how most people view meal prepping haha! We all want to meal prep healthy foods for the week but don’t know how. I’m hoping I can help make you realize it’s not as hard as you think. Lets dive in!

Those who like to stay on track and eat healthy, prep their meals a head of time! It’s harder to say no to unhealthy convenient foods like frozen pizza, mac and cheese or fast food! With being busy and lazy its easy to grab whatever is fast and 9 times out of 10 its unhealthy! When your meals are prepped a head of time, you don’t need to make any poor decisions. All you need to do is heat it up and eat it! For me I sit down Sunday mornings and plan my meals out for the upcoming week. I bought a planner to stay organized and write all my meals in. Make this a habit and get organized and you will be successful!

I’m sure you’re thinking its time consuming and I don’t want spend my entire weekend doing that! It’s easy once you get the hang of it. It took me 2 hours today to prep breakfast, lunches, snacks and dinners for the week. This habit won’t just help your waistline but it will also help you save money as you wont be running through a drive through to get coffee, breakfast sandwich, donuts, or lunch! Doesn’t this look rewarding?!

Just a few other healthy habit tips! Make a list of all ingredients for every meal before you go grocery shopping so you have everything and aren’t running to the grocery store 3 more times that week! My advice, shop on the outer perimeter of the store! The aisles are usually full of processed unhealthy foods that won’t make you successful! All the food you need, you will find on the outer part of the store! If you eat salads or wraps, I would prepare those the night before you eat them as they tend to get soggy if you prepare them days ahead.

To make it faster and easier, I start off with putting my chicken in the crock pot since that takes hours to cook and I do the rest of the prepping while that cooks. You can then cook rice, sweet potatoes and veggies on the stove top! Unfortunately too much of a variety can slow you down but that is all up to you! I keep it simple! I always bake an egg casserole also for breakfasts for days I don’t have a shake. My snacks are then prepackaged into their serving size such as almonds or veggies. Yogurts and oatmeal are great snacks that are already prepackaged! Also have my One and Quest bars handy to grab! I bought a pack of 15 meal prep containers off Amazon to portion out all my meals in so I can grab and go in the morning!

What you drink is just as important as meals for the week! You don’t want to drink your calories and find yourself at the vending machine getting a soda! I always have water enhancers on hand as well as plenty of seltzer waters and Powerade Zero’s on top of my water! I’m sure a lot of people don’t drink much water because its blah, but these things will help you drink more! Make everything easy and accessible to yourself to prevent from eating unhealthy! Organization is the key! Below is my fridge and pantry door with healthy snacks.
